50 Cat Group Members Fight for Feral Cats

10-30-07

The Port Authority has started rounding up feral cats at JFK airport and is considering euthanizing them as soon as today. The Port Authority said these cats are a posing danger near the Delta Airlines terminal due to food left behind for them is attracting birds that could fly into the jets engines. There are currently 50 to 80 cats around the area and the Port Authority would like to relocate them but cat groups are saying that most feral cats are difficult to domesticate. The Agencies did say that a small amount of the cats can be house cats. The Port Authority is willing to spray and neuter the cats at their own expense if the agencies would take them in. - See Update to Story

Responses:

It is unforgivable that the Port Authority and JFK should allow cats to populate for years. Donna Daniels - Miami FL
