Missing/Found Pet Articles

What should I do if I found a pet?

If your in a situation that you find someones lost pet like a dog, cat or any other type of pet, the first thing you should do is contact the local police department, animal control and animal shelters immediately. When reporting, provide a description of the animal along with any identification tags. The police department has a lost and found listing that is normally available 24 hours a day.

It is important to have identification on your pet. Most importantly is your telephone number and address. If your pet is only wearing a veterinarian tag, this information is not available after their office has closed.
Search the local neighborhood for signs that may have been posted describing the missing dog or missing cat, etc. also look to see if people are walking around the area searching for a missing pet.

Also you can post flyers, check the news paper lost and found and go door to door. Also list the lost pet on a few web sites that allow users to post Found pets.
