Pet Odor

Possible causes for dog odor

There are many factors that lead to pet odors, especially in dogs. Most dogs naturally give off some type of smell, but when un-natural circumstances take place, that odor can become a lot stronger.

One typical reason for dog odor would be improper grooming or lack of it. If a pets coat is not taken care of properly, their coat can harbor dirt and other substances that can cause a bad smell. This is often the case in long and thick coats.

Another un-natural odor for a dog would be a dental disease. Have you ever been around a dog whose breath smells like it can strip paint off a car. Dental Disease can cause rotten breath. One sign of a disease would be excessive drooling; this can affect the skin around the mouth and produce a terrible odor.

Ear disease is another type of cause for pet odor. If your pet's ears are not cleaned and taken care of properly, Micro Organisms can harbor themselves inside your pet's ear causing a musty odor.

To prevent these un-natural diseases from occurring, regular visits to your veterinarian is suggested.
